HAWKESBURY UPTON HALL COMMITTEE

Hall Committee Report for 2013

I would like to again thank the committee for their dedication and work over the past year. We have again this year managed to do well to retain all our regular hirers and maintain a good level of income that covered our day to day running costs.
Private hires for functions and bars were down on previous years, although we held another successful Big Breakfast event and the Motorcycle event in the autumn that helped to boost our funds.
This year we had major damage to the hall floor from a water leak and eventually the floor had to be replaced, all costs were covered by our insurers, which was an excellent outcome.
During the year we were quite busy with general maintenance which saw repairs to the tea urn, tall fridge and bar dishwasher, plus replacement of main hall fluorescent light fittings and tubes.
An energy audit was carried out by JRP Solutions Ltd and some of the items in the report have been dealt with, other recommendations to be done in 2014.
Thanks to the skate park subcommittee and all their supporters in a well managed project that made sure the skate park was opened in 2013 even though the weather was very much against them.
Thanks to the Grants subcommittee for their many applications. We were successful with 2 applications of £3,000 each and the majority of this money was used to install a new boiler system, the remaining amount will be used for main hall loft insulation.
We will continue to search for grants to help our funding for larger projects alongside our own fundraising activities. Hopefully these efforts will enable us to complete some of the items on our wish list as well as the general day to day Hall maintenance requirements.

Treasurer's summary report below provided by Bill Cullen.
Letting fee income increased in the year. This resulted in a very small
negative difference between the total income and the total expenditure of £241. An improved situation from 2012
Bar profits were down in the year, the stock carried over from 2013 was higher than 2012. Some of this stock has been used successfully in 2014
No donations were received in 2013
The strategy of applying for grants was successful with the hall receiving a £3000 grant and there is another grant for the same amount expected in early 2014. This money was used to replace the heating boiler.
The major expenditure of replacing the hall floor was undertaken in the year. The accounts show this as £100 outgoing. This was the difference between the amount received from the insurance company and the cost of the floor.
At the end of the year the closing balance was £3662. Again the Biker rally in 2013 (as in 2012) was a big contributor to this position
Due to the various changes in the Treasurers position in the year the committee would like to express their thanks to Mick Bendeaux for his major contribution to compiling the accounts for 2013

Thanks again to everyone.
